L’Orangerie de Rahoul

AOC Graves

L’Orangerie de Rahoul is the perfect introduction to Château Rahoul’s fine wine. It pays tribute to the wealth of terroirs where it finds its home, and which make this Graves wine stand apart from all the rest. It takes its name from Château Rahoul’s magnificent orangery and is a nod to its rich past.

Tasting notes

Lovely pronounced ruby red. Charming bouquet of fresh red fruits. Full-flavoured, rounded and well-balanced on the palate, culminating in a supple finish of impressive length. An Orangerie 2020 wine of great delicacy.

The vintage

2020 is an early, demanding vintage, which afforded the teams little respite. This was a year defined by nerve-racking disease pressure and contrasting weather.
Winter was mild and wet, fully replenishing water reserves in the soils, and followed by a particularly hot spring with plentiful rainfall. The conditions promoted vine growth, and coaxed budburst and flowering to arrive ten to fifteen days in advance, varying from parcel to parcel.
The dry summer and lack of water set in later this year, and was also cooler than the norm. From mid-July onwards, the heat triggered perfect maturation in the grapes, while lack of water carries the promise of great complexity and generous tannins.
This vintage is defined by the 10-day precociousness, small berries, high quality, tannic juices and terrific aromatic freshness.

Château Rahoul is one of only a handful of Graves wines to belong to the highly selective Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. The chateau produces alluring, distinctive wines, with juicy, dark fruit flavours and delicate tannins. It expresses all the fruit character and elegance of Merlot, enhanced by the complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
On the palate, this Graves white wine offers complex flavours of white peaches, limeflower and citrus, freshness and depth. This is an ageworthy wine, and all the more elegant if enhanced by several years ageing.
