Chateau La Garde White

I like the layered texture to this, with fruit and light phenolics, as well as bright acidity. Medium body. Lemon-rind and fresh-apple character at the end. Excellent finish.

Bright yellow colour with green hue. Elegant nose with fine fruit, tangerine and grapefruit, starfruit and hints of peaches, basil and mint in the background as well as fine white blossoms. On the palate well balanced with juicy finish and very good length.

Pale yellow green, silver reflections. Delicate lime and grapefruit zest, white tropical fruit, in the background some fresh meadow herbs. Slender, green apple, racy and fresh structure, fine fruit in the finish, lemony aftertaste, a fine aperitif wine.

Reflective green gold, fragrant white flower aromatics, this has lime zest and lift, widening to preserved citrus through the mid palate, fresh acidities and salinity on the finish, good stuff.

A step change for La Garde this year with a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Floral and fragrant, really alive on the nose, expressive and so energetic. Fruit forward and lively, I love the finesse and the construction, really well made, layered with lots of minerality, crunchy red fruits, great acidity and focus on the crushed stones, graphite and pencil led. It has a smooth body, with a grip to the tannins but lots of focus and definition to the elements. Quite a serious take but all harmonious, nothing sticking out with plenty of underlying power. The 2023 Château La Garde is a beautiful vintage, much like the 2021, with a high acidity level, crystal clear appearance, and a pleasantly bouncy texture. The aromas of orange zest, lemon tart, sage, and yellow plum are fresh and crisp, and they reflect beautifully on the transparent liquid, creating a shimmering effect. As I was about to put down the glass, a classic hint of salinity drew me back in, making it nearly impossible for me to stop tasting.

Pretty, tense, intense and charged with fresh citrus notes and linden, grapefruit, elderflower, elderberry, a little apple blossom. Very lovely. Pure, precise, crystalline. Lithe and so incredibly tense, very pure fruited and yet with good density. Very expressive of the vintage. Brilliantly crystalline. The best yet from here.

Le blanc de La Garde révèle bien son élevage, de prime abord en tout cas, car ce sont rapidement des notes florales et fruitées, complétées par de la minéralité et des nuances  épicées, qui prennent le dessus. En bouche, le vin affiche d'entrée des ambitions de fraîcheur, de tempérament, de lumière ! Il veut briller de son acidité structurante qui entraîne tout le palais avec elle en plébiscitant la salinité et le côté désaltérant du vin ! Un vin sapide, salivant et enthousiasmant !

Steinig, kühl, subtiles Holz, Kräuter, zitrische Früchte; knackig am Gaumen, sehr feine Säure, strukturiert, frisch, salin im Finale. Ein sehr schöner Wein.

This is an eloquent testament to limestone’s affinity with Sauvignon Blanc, expertly brought up in a combination of stainless steel, vat, and barrel, the later only 5% new, none of it therefore getting in the way of layers of agrume fruit, grapefruit to the fore, then quince and a hint of white tobacco. Bâtonnage took place every week until February. More opulent than many of its peers, perhaps, but still harnessed by the virtues offered by a low pH and a complex structure.

Ananas frais, kiwi, bergamote et écorce d'orange sanguine, le nez n'est que fraicheur. La bouche est pleine est salivante avec une trame saline qui s'étire jusqu'en finale.

Mele, pere, tiglio in fiore e magnolie descrivono la scena principale di questo giovane bianco made in Bordeaux. Corpo medio-pieno, sapido e tagliente nel sorso chiude davvero moderno e serioso. Meglio dal 2026.
