Chateau de Ricaud – Bordeaux White
Château de Ricaud Bordeaux Blanc unleashes an extensive palette of flavours. Complex and lively, the wine also offers richness and length, the hallmark of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Produced only in limited quantity, it expresses all the minerality and qualities typical of these great clay-limestone terroirs.
Tasting notes
The wine debuts with aromas of white fruits – predominantly peach – together with tropical fruit notes. Impressively balanced on the palate, encapsulating the freshness of sauvignon and the lush richness of semillon, majority grape in the blend. The wine culminates in a fresh, harmonious finish.
The vintage
2022 was a vintage of contrast. Commencing amid a glacial winter, the conditions prompted the vine to draw on its rich reserves and promote a budburst of quality. As early as May, the sunny character of the vintage made its presence felt and summer conditions were characterised by scorching temperatures 2.5°C above the norm. The vine grew rapidly, according the vintage its early profile. Flowering commenced mid-May, rapid, even and generous. Although a heatwave summer, rain in June played a key role in building the vine’s resistance in the face of the drought conditions. Once again the vine demonstrated extreme resilience, boulstered by adapted viticultural practices in the vineyard. The early white grape harvest preserved fresh aromas and good acidity. Aromatic and sunny, 2022 is without doubt a great vintage.
