For La Grande Cuvée Red, significant work is channelled into seeking out the finest terroirs across Bordeaux’s red grape vineyards, in order to pinpoint the most suitable plots where Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon can ripen to perfection.
Forging strong partnerships with growers guarantees optimal and consistent fruit quality. From tending the vine all the way through to the harvest, the growers work hand in hand with the Dourthe winemakers.
La Grande Cuvée Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc is made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, which rich, aromatic character is underpinned by great structure. Our winemakers select grapes from a wide range of terroirs located to the North and East of the appellation, resulting in a palette of typical Sauvignon Blanc flavours unparalleled in Bordeaux.
The finest batches of La Grande Cuvée Red are matured for 12 months in new French oak barriques, where the tannins from the oak integrate harmoniously with those present in the wine, imparting rounded character and balance.
The complex flavours are enhanced by ageing several batches in small 80hl wooden tanks.
The rich flavours of the white wines are enhanced by careful vinification, and techniques finetuned for more than 30 years, including maceration on the skins and low temperature fermentation. The wine is then matured for 6 months on the fine lees, with batonnage (stirring the lees), imparting greater harmony to the wine and optimising the finesse and intensity of the flavours.
